Perry Worth Sullivan died Saturday, May 13, 2006, age 97, of Jacksonville, Ala.
Mr. Sullivan was born in Carroll County on August 6, 1908, the son of the late Christopher C. Sullivan and Nora Taylor Sullivan. He was a retired welder with the Union Foundry. He served in the U.S. Marines for 4 years and was a member of Gold Ridge Baptist Church. He was an expert gardener and enjoyed the Jacksonville Senior Citizens Program.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, three brothers, and one grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Nina B. Sullivan, daughters and sons-in-law, Betty & Ron Bailey, Sun City Center, Fla., Jeanne & Ed Jordan, Jacksonville, Ala., Karen & Robert Van Cleave, Anniston, Ala., sons and daughter-in-law, Jimmy & Brenda Sullivan, Meridian, Miss., Andy Howell, Jacksonville, Ala., 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Annie Sullivan, LaGrange, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Perry Worth Sullivan, will be today at 2 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church (Old Sanctuary) with the Rev. Milford Ballenger and the Rev. Jerome Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary at 1 to 2 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Ken Cicione, Ed Jordan, Andy Howell, Mac McManus, Joey Holloway, and Bill Gibbs.
Special thanks to caregivers, Norma & Jeremy Allen, Ken Cicione; Donna, Vickie, Virginia, and John of Southern Care Hospice; Dr. Russell Ulrich and staff. Interment will be in the church cemetery with American Legion Post #143 folding and presenting the flag.
