Mrs. Charlsie Jean Hughes Walton, age 78, of Shady Grove Road, Carrollton, died Friday, May 13, 2011.
Mrs. Walton was born in Bremen, Georgia, on May 5, 1933, the daughter of the late William Howard Hughes Sr. and Gladys Marie Harper Hughes.
She graduated from Bremen High School in 1950 and West Georgia College. Mrs. Walton had worked in Leesburg, Florida, as secretary at Lake Hardware Store, in Atlanta as billing clerk with Union Special Machine Company, in Carrollton at Printed Fabrics and American Gas Company. She married Malcolm "Mack" Walton on March 6, 1954. Mrs. Walton joined the United Methodist Church in 1944 and currently was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, joining in 1977.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the Tanner Subacute Unit, 4th floor nursing staff and Dr. Pierce for their care during Mrs. Walton's illness.
Mrs. Walton had a deep love for her entire family. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph Mark and Terri Walton, Malcolm Douglas and Debra Walton, William "Billy" Lewis Walton, all of Carrollton; sisters, Margie Hughes Semanchik, Mildred Hughes Jones, both of Florida; brother and sister-in-law, John H. and Peggy Hughes of Carrollton; her beloved 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; niece, Jan Folds, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm "Mack" Joseph Walton; sister, Marie Mote; and brother, William Howard Hughes Jr.
The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be Monday, May 16, at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Harris officiating. Pallbearers will be Kerry Phillips, Matthew Walton, Chris Walton, Jessie Walton, Jake Walton, Jamie Merrell and Josh Goldin. Interment will be in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
