Funeral Held Monday for Mr. Powers:
Funeral services for John Worth (Buck) Powers, age 65, of 436 Marble Street, Rockmart, were held Monday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m. at the Bethesda Baptist Church in Carroll County. The Rev. Jimmy Hatcher, the Rev. Stanley Woods and the Rev. Gordon Willingham officiated, and interment was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Powers died Friday, Oct. 27, in the VA Hospital, Decatur, GA., where he had been a patient for five weeks.
He was born in Carroll County on April 4, 1913, and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Daniel Powers. He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elgerie Woods Powers; one daughter, Mrs. Sherrie P. Harris, Florence, Ala.; one son, John D. Powers, Atlanta; one grandson, Worth Powers; one granddaughter, Tiffany Harris; six sisters, Mrs. Inez Hobbs, Bremen; Mrs. Ethelene Hubbard, Cedartown; Mrs. Jessie Fields, Smyrna; Mrs. Mildred Walker, Mrs. Margie Lambert, Mrs. Grace Azar, all of Carrollton; two brothers, Eugene Powers, Carrollton; and Walter Powers, of Dallas. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers were Chuck Austin, Harold Griggs, and nephews, Jerry Lambert, Randall Walker, John W. Traylor, Wayne Powers, Bob Powers and Willard Powers.
The David and Moss Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
