August 16, 1921 - November 23, 1996
Garland Powers, 75, died Nov. 23, 1996. He resided with his niece and nephew, Donna Pitts and Jackie Richardson at 323 Hamp Jones Road, Carrollton.
He was born in Carroll County on Aug. 16, 1921, son of the late William Lonnie and Alice Dukes Powers. He was a retired truck driver, a member of Lee's Chapel Congregational Methodist Church and an Army veteran of WWII.
Survivors include two daughters, Sarah Ann Powers and Judy Ann Powers; three sisters, Kate Wyatt, Opal Gray (GAY) and Edna Richardson, all of Carrollton, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Nov. 25, at 4 p.m. at Lee's Chapel Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Waylen Golden officiating. Pallbearers were Jack Harden, Dan Harden Dalton Richardson, Matthew Richardson, Kenneth Hinesley, Robert Powers, and Robert Lee. Interment followed in the church cemetery with members of the American Legion, Post 143, folding and presenting the flag.
